9-19-22 THOUGHTS
The following comes from the first point in yesterday’s lesson.
Rom 8:6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
Our minds can be set on God only as we know God’s mind! Our ATTENTION produces this gain. We are to ACQUIRE WISDOM & UNDERSTANDING! Verse 12 below reminds me of Isa 40:31 “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up [with] wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”
If it doesn’t come from the Father... we don’t need it, nor are we to want it!
Prov 4:1-13 Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, 2 For I give you sound teaching; Do not abandon my instruction. 3 When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother, 4 Then he taught me and said to me, "Let your heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments and live; 5 Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 "Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you. 7 "The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding. 8 "Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her. 9 "She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty." 10 Hear, my son, and accept my sayings And the years of your life will be many. 11 I have directed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths. 12 When you walk, your steps will not be impeded; And if you run, you will not stumble. 13 Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.
1Cor 2:6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away.
2Cor 4:4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
1John 5:19-21 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols.
1John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
My Prayer:
O God, be in our hearts continually and help us to set priority and focus for our lives. Keep us from the lustful distractions of this world that come from unholy sources. May our eyes, O Father, always be single, looking to you, O God. Thank you for the revealing of your mind to us, for the saving of our souls in Jesus, and for the promise of your presence now and forever. Settle us in "an abiding" with you, hearts entwined for our eternal benefit. We praise and thank you, in Jesus precious name, Amen
